Christmas faux florals - that last more than one season.... for next year and next year and next .....

We've been busy making up gifts and bespoke Christmas displays here. When you buy our faux, it's easy to replace the winter stems with other stems for the new year and summer. Not just flowers that are flown fast by plane only to last a week or two at the most. Many of our florals are hand painted - every teeny tiny petal by hand. And some are real touch which means they even feel like the real thing.

This happened!!

15 years ago, in a meeting room, I sat with Producer @carolinenorris, series director Dom Brigstock and director Chloe Thomas laughing very hard as we auditioned for the very first series of Horrible Histories from a short list of actors and comedians I had brought in to meet them all. I cast the next 5 series. Today HH is on series 11!!

On Friday, Bafta awarded us its highest special award - and the most lovely reunion was had with some very extraordinary and talented people...and I felt just ENORMOUSLY proud to hold that HEAVY statue!

Pic 3 last night by incredible Historian @greg_jenner - (hope that's ok Greg) of some of our amazing original cast, Matt Baynton, Simon Farnaby and Jim Howick.
Pic 4 is a very small excerpt of one of the scripts we sent out for the actors to prep.

I still have all the casting notes from the sessions and a lot of emails back and forth with agents telling them that this kids show would change lives and television and make careers and they should absolutely let their clients audition ( there was a definite awful snobbism against kids tv with agents sadly - don't do the job any more so can say what I like!! Tho won't divulge the ones who refused and missed out 🌟😳) and this weekend has been a nostalgic remembering of a brilliant time.

As I talked to everyone and caught up, it also affirmed to me just how enormously happy I am doing what I do now with flowers. I did not know my ADHD diagnosis back then and I really struggled.

Many told me my career change was crazy, You cast HH for fecks sake, I was doing ok... but as I worked with florals, I began to realise the strangest connect and calm, the design process naturally fed my dopamine cravings - and I believe now that scary career leap and flowers may have quite literally saved me - from all sorts! 🤣

@carolinenorris, a special hug for you as a totally brilliant and gorgeous being - whom I suspect recognised that in me - and many years later asked me to design her wedding florals and just recently a prime tv series...

The most wonderful night ... and a testament too that change is never too late and can be absolutely OK ❤️Thank you BAFTA and HH! X

On a painted black wicker base, black and pink preserved ruscus, gorgeous preserved dark eucalyptus, shocking pink skeleton leaves, a curtain of the sexiest of black amaranthus ( love lies bleeding) - and the star of the show, an incredible real preserved forever shocking pink rose.

All of our floral ingredients will be reused and repurposed indefinitely. And many of the materials on the install have been upcycled by us already as part of the design.

The exterior deserved strong shape and colours. Loved designing this and seeing it come to life as we built it up 💙💙

Loved designing and creating this one as wonderful restaurant owner and chef, Stani just trusted. We used the interior colours and gorgeous branding by @hellobonnyclyde as our steer, keeping the palette really paired back and neutral.
Front of house installs need to speak to the customer what a business is about... and we work really hard with the design element always to ensure this. If you haven't been yet to eat delicious food and drink coffee here... you must! It's a warm and real and wonderful place. X

So digging back! 😊.

Meeting Tan and faffing with flowers with him was definitely a pinch me moment. Shame my underwire bra armitoire popped out into the air as I was first introduced and I managed to call him Tan French in front of the producers and crew ( adhd brains are not too good with names! 😳).
Still, life is never all wins...and this was a lot of fun to work on!

Preserved roses - absolutely one the most fucking fantastic ingredients of the world of sustainable and everlasting floral design.

Preserved using totally natural processes, they remain soft to the touch ( unlike dried roses), and can still be reflexed - or left as is. The best part of course, is that they last for a very looooooong time. Admittedly they won't like a damp environment and if left in direct sunlight will gradually fade over time - but their beauty and sustainability is undeniably just friggin insane. Absolutely amazing for bridal bouquets and we've used them for very high end hotels and restaurants as well as installs where longevity matters. They make amazing gifts obvs - as flowers that won't die after a few days.

Meet Eve! If you haven't already.... ❤️
Newest addition to the IB team ... and an exciting move forward for me. Eve is now based in the shop/studio so we can keep more regular openlng hours (back open Tuesdays again! ) for you all whilst I can also design the larger projects and also be out and about working and directing commercial and private installs with our freelance team when necessary- and grow all the gazillion ideas I have in my never stopping brain for Immortal Botanica going forwards!!

Eve has a background of several years as a florist working specifically with dried and preserved and faux florals and in retail and online ... which is incredibly important for me as it's a specific art - and we want nothing but the absolute best for you!

Her trial week consisted of me chucking all the ingredients of our summer tree at her in a pile and telling her to put it together while I ignored her for the afternoon!!🤣. You can see she is talented!!

You'll also be seeing her on my stories now - so we can show you some more behind the scenes stuff of the workings of the incredible world of everlasting floristry ... and being almost half my age ( ! 😩) - she's also social media savvy! Lucky me!!
If I'm not there and she is when you pop in - then lucky you!!

Come and say hello to her. Bring your vases and photos to the studio - she'll also be working behind the scenes replying to commissions etc ... and endlessly sweeping obvs!! Loads of love xxx

My gorgeous past co- colleague workers and wonderful friends Geri @gerieast and Kathy @kathybryantdesign are pursuing their other areas of expertise full-time now ( respectively as dog walker extraordinaire and very talented kids fashion designer ) But am sure you'll see their faces crop up again as freelancers on installs or in the shop/studio when I can pursuade them to! It's time for the pic again! Another year!

11 years ago today, in a tiny mountain church in the Black Mountains, and then afterwards with special friends and family at our cottage there (and a wedding feast where we quite literally ate flowers!), I walked down the aisle to Jonny Cash's 'Rose of my Heart' to marry my Bert.

My true love. Who puts up with my nonsence, endures my ups and downs and is there every night by my side.

It's time for the pic again! Another year!

Quarterly flowers for @katefeatherkitchendesign ...

Did you know that buying just a single weekly fresh flower bouquet uses more than an estimated 32kg of CO2 just in its journey from being picked, air freighted and transported in refrigerated containers to your kitchen table - not to mention additional CO2 generated by growing methods, extreme water usage and pesticides before your bouquet even makes that journey. Just because these flowers are of the earth - doesn't mean they are not costing our earth ☹️

The shop and studio yesterday bathed in July afternoon sunlight sitting in the chair ... those blue hydrangeas just make me smile...
A reminder we won't be open again now until Wednesday 31st July next week. After that, we will reopen on ad hoc Tuesdays over the summer and Wednesday thru to Saturday and then back to normal in September.

I'm writing this on the M6 heading up to Scotland for a few days with Alb and Ottie Going to see my Mum who has dementia in her care home ... always anxious as to what we will be met with... it's such a poisonous awful illness 😏

On the flip side, we get to stay in our beautiful beach hut right on the beach... in a small remote holiday community in SW Scotland with special friends we have known and grown up with forever... and who I can't wait to see and hug as they understand the story of what has unfolded with Mum and Dad more than anyone and have been totally and unbelievably wonderful in their support while we are so far away.
Its a place that is magical and special to us all ... tho tinged with sadness too now...it feel so strange being in Mum and Dads space without them there...
So for me a mixture of trepidation and longing to arrive as we sit here in traffic ( alb listening to music top volume 😳).

I'm still spending time working as we have a lot of designing to do for future installs and weddings. ❤️ so carry on emailing and messaging ... it may take a little longer to reply, but we will!

It's bloody hard moving from your own home to a care home - no matter how nice it may be...
Dad asked me for flowers - and it was so lovely seeing his face as I brought them in tonight. I'll be swapping them around every couple of months - and what a model he makes with his knees on show in summer shorts! Love you forever Pa xxxx
